Mission
JOB PURPOSE:
To support the technical engineering functions of rolling stock systems by assisting in maintenance planning, condition monitoring, fault diagnosis, and documentation. The Junior Rolling Stock Engineer contributes to the reliability and safety of assets by collaborating with senior engineers and participating in ongoing improvement initiatives, ensuring alignment with maintenance strategies and international standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
Safety Scope
- Adhere to established safety protocols during inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
- Participate in the identification and reporting of safety-related issues observed during rolling stock operations.
- Support root cause analysis of damage and failures, ensuring alignment with safety documentation.
- Contribute to the development of safety improvement measures within the maintenance department.
- Conduct routine safety inspections in accordance with maintenance standards.
Maximo Scope
- Maintain data integrity and accurate asset history within the Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system (IBM Maximo preferred).
- Assist in defining and updating maintenance intervals, change orders, and repair authorizations in the system.
- Monitor and track rolling stock reliability and availability metrics.
- Support the identification of required spares, consumables, and man-hour estimates based on OEM guidance.
- Ensure technical documents and records are up-to-date and accessible through document management systems.
Technical Support & Development
- Assist in gathering and analyzing operational data related to trainset behavior, anomalies, and reported damages.
- Provide on-site support during inspections, preventive maintenance, and minor repairs of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to conduct tests, draft technical documents, and implement corrective actions.
- Utilize diagnostic tools and technical documentation to support troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
- Stay current on developments in rolling stock technologies, tools, and best practices to enhance individual and team performance.
- Work closely with other infrastructure teams (signaling, power, track, depot) to ensure integrated system performance.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
- Fluent in English and Arabic, French is a plus.
KNOWLEDGE:
- Understanding of rolling stock maintenance practices, including light and heavy maintenance (overhaul).
- Basic knowledge of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and electronic systems.
- Familiarity with troubleshooting techniques and root cause analysis.
- Awareness of Lean manufacturing principles and railway safety regulations.
EXPERIENCE:
- 0–2 years of relevant experience, including internships or co-op placements in the rail industry or related sectors.
- Experience with EAM/MMS platforms such as IBM Maximo.
