Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of accounting experience, preferably within the construction industry. The Junior Accountant will assist in maintaining financial records, processing transactions, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. Key Responsibilities:
- Accounts Payable & Receivable:
- Process vendor invoices, verify approvals, and ensure timely payments.
- Prepare and send customer invoices, follow up on overdue accounts, and reconcile discrepancies.
- General Ledger Maintenance:
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Record journal entries and maintain accurate financial records.
- Bank & Account Reconciliations:
- Reconcile bank statements, credit card transactions, and other accounts.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Payroll Support:
- Assist in processing payroll, verifying timesheets, and ensuring compliance with labor laws.
- Financial Reporting:
- Assist in preparing financial statements, budgets, and cost reports.
- Generate ad-hoc reports for management as needed.
- Compliance & Documentation:
- Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting regulations.
- Maintain organized financial records for audits and tax filings.
- Cost Tracking (Construction-Specific):
- Monitor project-related expenses, labor costs, and material expenditures.
- Assist in job costing and budget variance analysis.
- Collaboration & Support:
- Work closely with project managers and other departments to ensure accurate financial tracking.
- Support senior accountants in financial analysis and process improvements.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Experience: 1+ years of accounting experience (preferably in construction Industry).
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in QuickBooks, SAP, or other accounting software.
- Strong Excel skills (PivotTables, VLOOKUPs, etc.).
- Soft Skills:
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Preferred:
- Familiarity with construction accounting practices (e.g., job costing, progress billing).
- Knowledge of GAAP and basic tax regulations.
