We are seeking a passionate and experienced Senior Data Governance Engineer to join our team within the Fintech domain. Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain data governance policies, standards, and procedures ensuring data quality, integrity, availability, and security in line with PCI DSS and ISO 27001.
- Collaborate with business, security, and tech teams to define data ownership, stewardship, and lifecycle management (classification, retention, archival, secure disposal).
- Establish and enforce enterprise-wide data standards, definitions, taxonomies, and business glossaries for consistent and compliant data usage.
- Design and maintain data lineage and metadata management frameworks to ensure traceability and support audit/compliance efforts.
- Define, monitor, and report on data quality metrics, KPIs, and compliance scorecards; lead remediation of data issues.
- Lead enterprise data governance, security, and compliance programs aligned with regulations like GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, PCI DSS, and ISO 27001.
- Conduct data audits, access reviews, and assessments to identify and mitigate risks around accuracy, access, and policy violations.
- Partner with security teams to align governance with DLP, encryption, access controls, and incident response.
- Stay current on emerging data governance tools, privacy laws, and security trends; recommend improvements for compliance and efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
- Proven experience in data governance, data management, or related roles.
- Strong knowledge of data governance principles, data quality, and metadata management.
- Familiarity with governance tools like Collibra, Informatica, Alation, or Azure Purview is a plus.
- In-depth understanding of PCI DSS v4.0, ISO 27001:2022, and regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA.
- Strong communication, collaboration, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with data modeling, SQL, data pipelines, and database concepts; familiarity with data classification and encryption is an advantage.
- CDMP or other data governance certification is desirable.
- Proven ability to design and optimize scalable, secure, and high-performance data infrastructures aligned with business goals.
- Agile, team-oriented mindset with a continuous learning approach and awareness of industry trends.
