Role Purpose
To provide Telecom Security Engineer expertise and contribute to the success of the Security Engineering Function achieving Vodafone Group Technology Security Baseline mandated requirements defined by Group CTSO including but not limited to implementing new Security layers and creating new powerful monitoring function plus insuring that security standards and requirements are implemented by all technology functions.
Key Accountabilities & Decision Ownership
1. Telecom Security
- Plan, design, implement and evaluate security-focused tools and services including project leadership roles to Security Vodafone telecom Network
- Lead team and drive delivery through people
- Participate in security compliance efforts (e.g., PCI DSS, SOX)
- Evaluate and recommend new and emerging security products and technologies to secure VF-EG network
- Ensure 3rd parity connectivity security towards our main Telecom assets
- Ensure VF-EG Telecom published services Security
- Ensure VF-EG internet resources security and take all the needed measures to maintain its availability.
- Ensure that right access/authority given to the right person.
- Promote security within Company and be an advocate for customer trust
- Budget Management and securing deals that fulfils cost efficiency with supporting financial teams
2. Optimize Network Quality
- Study the effect of SW/HW upgrade plans on Telecom Network Capacity.
- Study the effect of new service/promotion on network Capacity.
- Generate Weekly, Monthly Report to Keep Track on Security KPI.
- Study of new Security Systems / Tools or Features.
- Study of new Security Management Systems / Tools.
- Develop and implement software tools to monitor the Security systems and to provide useful statistics, Trend Analysis using Historical data to capture the Subscriber behaviour/Profile across different seasons and occasions.
3. Technology Development
- Alignment with Vodafone Group plans.
- Liaise with overall Technology Strategy.
- Provide the state of art for the IP and security evolution that enable VF-EG as best & secure service provider.
4. Cross function, Support and Communication
- Maintain a close liaison with all departments within Vodafone.
- Supports Marketing, product & services, Radio and core in network connectivity and new services.
- Provide Operation with the necessary symptoms required for troubleshooting.
Core Competencies, Knowledge, and Experience
Education:
B.Sc or M.Sc Degree in communication / electronics engineering
Work Experience:
Minimum of 7/8 years’ experience in Network and Security positions
Technical skills:
- Experience in firewall and intrusion detection/prevention technologies
- Experience in designing secure network architectures, virtualization technologies, identity and access management principles, application security, encryption technologies, DNS and web applications
- Basic knowledge with SOX and PCI compliance is a plus
- Good Knowledge in Security within GSM/Telecom environment
- Good analytical and interpersonal skills are essential, together with an ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Excellent teamwork skills
- Results oriented, high energy, self-motivated

A very good command of written and spoken English is required.
