Founded in 2004 as a public-private joint venture, SCCT is majority-owned and operated by APM Terminals (55%), with other key stakeholders including COSCO (20%), the Suez Canal Authority (10.3%), Egyptian private sector (9.7%), and the National Bank of Egypt (5%). 🧭 Position Summary: Chief Operating Officer (COO):
We are seeking a strategic, execution-focused, and LEAN-minded Chief Operating Officer to lead SCCT’s operational and digital transformation. You will have end-to-end accountability for terminal execution, asset management, yard and gate operations, IT/digitalization, and large-scale performance initiatives.
This is a high-impact executive role that goes beyond operational efficiency—it’s about building a resilient, digital-first, and continuously improving terminal for the future.
🎯 Key Responsibilities:
Operational & Strategic Leadership
Lead and optimize terminal operations with a focus on safety, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
Drive performance in areas like CMPH, berth utilization, yard planning, and gate turnaround.
Embed LEAN principles into daily operations—focusing on root-cause problem solving, visual management, and continuous kaizen improvements.
Digital & IT Enablement
Champion smart terminal innovations: TOS upgrades, automation, IoT-driven predictive maintenance, and BI dashboards.
Build digital fluency across operations to support data-driven decisions.
Project & Transformation Management
Lead cross-functional transformation projects aligned with business strategy.
Utilize structured methodologies (Agile, Six Sigma, PMP) to ensure delivery and scalability.
Safety, Compliance & Culture
Foster a safety-first and compliance-driven culture through visible leadership and accountability.
Promote ownership and trust across teams—leading by example.
Leadership & People Development
Mentor and build a strong team of operational and IT leaders.
Champion a learning culture and robust succession planning.
Promote diversity, empowerment, and performance excellence.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Financial Stewardship
Align with internal and external stakeholders including the CEO, shareholders, unions, and customers.
Manage budgets responsibly—balancing cost control with service quality and innovation.
✅ What We’re Looking For
Experience: 10+ years in senior leadership roles in container terminals, port operations, or maritime logistics.
LEAN-Driven: Deep understanding and application of LEAN tools and mindset (e.g., visual management, standard work, problem-solving at root).
Change Agent: Proven ability to lead operational and cultural transformation at scale.
Tech-Savvy: Hands-on experience with TOS, automation, EDI, and data tools.
People Leader: Empathetic, inspiring, and collaborative leadership style.
Strategic Operator: Able to move seamlessly from boardroom strategy to frontline execution.
Global & Cultural Agility: Experience in multicultural and unionized environments is essential.
