The Data Governance Specialist is responsible for ensuring the integrity, quality, and compliance of organizational data through the development and implementation of effective data governance policies and procedures, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to establish and maintain a framework for managing data assets, ensuring
Your Role
- Develop and implement data governance policies and procedures to ensure data quality, security, and compliance with relevant regulations.
- Classify data based on sensitivity and criticality and define ownership responsibilities for different data assets.
- Develop and maintain a metadata management framework to document data definitions, lineage, and usage within the organization.
- Implement tools and processes to capture and store metadata associated with data assets.
- Design and implement data quality assessment processes to identify and address data quality issues.
- Implement and monitor access controls, encryption, and data masking techniques to safeguard sensitive information.
- Work closely with business units, IT, legal, and compliance teams to foster a collaborative data governance culture.
Your Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in information management, Computer Science, or a related field. A master's degree or relevant certifications will be advantageous.
- 4+ years of proven experience in roles related to data governance, data management, or information management.
- Demonstrated experience in working with data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures with previous experience in implementing metadata management practices.
- Familiarity with data privacy regulations such as GDPR, HIPAA, or industry-specific compliance standards.
- Strong analytical skills to identify data-related issues and propose effective solutions using specialized data governance tools, Excel, SQL, Power BI, or similar.
- Ability to translate regulatory requirements into actionable and comprehensive data governance policies.
- Knowledge of establishing clear data ownership and stewardship responsibilities.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing data quality assessment processes.
- Understanding of data security principles and experience implementing data security measures.
- Knowledge of access controls, encryption, and data masking techniques.
