Summary of the role:
The Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for designing proper electrical systems that are safe, efficient, and innovative ensuring their integration into the overall structural and architectural designs of the projects.
Key responsibilities:
- Design systems for distributing electricity throughout the building, including wiring, circuits, switchgear, and distribution panels.
- Develop efficient and aesthetically appropriate lighting systems, both for interior and exterior spaces.
- Collaborate with architects to integrate lighting, outlets, and other electrical components without disrupting the building's aesthetics.
- Plan security systems, such as cameras, access controls, and alarm systems.
- Design systems for the internet, phone, and other communication technologies.
- Integrate smart solutions and recommend energy-efficient appliances, to optimize lighting, enhance security and systems, reducing overall energy consumption.
- Work closely with mechanical engineers, structural engineers, and other professionals to ensure all building systems (HVAC, plumbing, etc.) are compatible.
- Ensure electrical systems align with the building's architectural and structural plans.
- Use simulations and software such as AutoCAD, or Revit for creating electrical layouts and integrating with architectural designs.
- Stay informed on the latest trends, materials and technology in the industry to keep our projects at the forefront of innovation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field. (Master’s Degree is preferred).
- 6- 10 years of professional experience as an Electrical Engineer specializing in Architectural system projects.
- Preferably Registered Professional or member of professional engineering (PE) society.
- Demonstrable portfolio with a strong experience in delivering high end projects.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Expert-level proficiency in Revit is required (minimum 5 years of experience using Revit on built projects).
- Good familiarity with BIM coordination workflows.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and compliance requirements such as NEC, IEC.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Creative mindset with ability to think innovatively and execute complete design concepts.
- Ability to solve complex technical problems.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with a high attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Excellent client facing communication skills.
Working conditions and Environment:
- The position is office based from New Cairo, Egypt.
- The position has no international business travel requirements.
