JOB PURPOSE:
The Mainline Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and guiding train drivers to ensure the safe, timely, and efficient operation of metro services along the mainline. This role involves enforcing compliance with operational procedures and safety regulations, coordinating driver schedules, responding to incidents, and maintaining direct communication with the OCC and engineering teams. The Mainline Supervisor plays a key role in sustaining service reliability, operational discipline, and overall passenger safety.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
Driver Oversight & Supervision
- Monitor and supervise a team of train drivers to assess their operational competence and adherence to assigned duties.
- Review and manage driver rosters and time sheets to ensure efficient scheduling and coverage of operational shifts.
- Oversee drivers’ compliance with standard operating procedures and ensure proper use of assigned driving equipment.
- Provide on-ground support and intervention in case of operational irregularities or technical incidents involving drivers.
Operational Compliance & Procedure Enforcement
- Ensure all drivers strictly follow driving rules, safety protocols, and operational regulations during mainline and depot operations.
- Verify that drivers comply with both wayside and onboard signaling systems throughout their service.
- Implement safety and operational procedures as required to uphold reliability and discipline across driving teams.
Incident Management & Safety Assurance
- Conduct investigations into operational incidents, accidents, or safety breaches to identify root causes and corrective actions.
- Sustain direct communication with the Head of Mainline or the Mainline Manager in emergencies or critical scenarios.
- Support the implementation of emergency procedures and safety regulations to protect passengers, staff, and railway assets during safety or security threats.
Reporting & Operational Evaluation
- Prepare and submit routine statistical reports, driver evaluations, and operational feedback related to train performance and incidents.
- Contribute to maintaining high levels of rolling stock availability and consistent passenger safety through data-driven decision-making.
- Implement internal control procedures and competence management systems (CMS).
General Duties
- Perform any additional tasks or assignments as instructed by the Operations Management Team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a technical field, preferably in Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics.
KNOWLEDGE:
- In-depth understanding of technical terminology used in the railway industry
- Strong knowledge of public safety standards and practices
- Proficient command of the English language, both written and spoken
- Comprehensive understanding of railway systems including ATS, ATC, and CBTC.
EXPERIENCE:
- 3 - 5 years of proven experience in the railway industry is required.
- Strong practical experience with railway operations and signaling systems.
