About Us: We are a UK-based company specialising in residential building estimating. Our mission is to simplify the estimating process for builders, developers, and homeowners by delivering accurate, easy-to-use solutions tailored to the residential construction industry. We’re now looking for a dedicated and skilled Software Engineer to lead the development of a new custom estimating software that reflects our deep industry experience and client needs. About the Role: This is a fully remote, full-time position for an experienced developer who will build our estimating software from scratch. You’ll have complete ownership of the technical side of the project—from choosing the stack to designing features and implementing core functionality. This is a solo developer role, perfect for someone who enjoys end-to-end product development, is proactive, and thrives in an independent work environment. Key Responsibilities: Design and develop a bespoke building estimating software application Translate basic business requirements into functional and technical features Build intuitive user interfaces for estimating materials, labour, and other costs Set up a backend to manage inputs, pricing data, and report generation Develop features such as project templates, quote exports, and basic reporting Ensure reliability, scalability, and usability of the platform Provide regular updates and adapt the product based on user feedback What We're Looking For: 3+ years of experience in software development Full-stack development experience (frontend + backend) Comfortable choosing and working with a modern tech stack Proven experience in building applications from the ground up Ability to work independently, manage your own time, and take full responsibility for delivery Good communication skills and attention to detail Nice to Have: Knowledge of construction or estimating software Experience integrating cost databases, report exports (e.g. PDF, Excel), or CRM features Familiarity with cloud deployment (e.g., AWS, Firebase, Heroku) Experience designing for non-technical users What We Offer: Fully remote working with flexible hours Competitive full-time salary The chance to lead a meaningful, practical software project with real users Full creative and technical freedom Supportive and responsive UK-based team How to Apply: Please send your CV, along with any relevant work samples (GitHub, portfolio, or live projects).
