Job Overview:
As a Senior Cost Controller at Colas Rail, you will play a critical role in managing and controlling the costs associated with various rail projects. You will work closely with project managers, financial analysts, and other stakeholders to ensure that all financial aspects of the projects are effectively monitored and controlled. Your expertise will help the organization maintain profitability and ensure project compliance with budgetary requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Management:
- Develop and implement cost control procedures to monitor and report project expenditures.
- Analyze project costs, budget variances, and forecasts, providing insights for decision-making.
- Prepare detailed cost reports for management review, highlighting areas of concern and opportunities for cost savings.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assist in the preparation of project budgets and financial forecasts.
- Collaborate with project managers to update and maintain accurate project budgets throughout the project lifecycle.
Data Analysis:
- Perform in-depth analysis of cost data to identify trends, variances, and potential risks.
- Utilize financial models to assess the impact of changes in project scope or schedules on overall costs.
Collaboration:
- Liaise with project teams to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Provide guidance and support to project managers in cost-related matters and decision-making.
Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and procedures as well as external regulatory requirements.
- Participate in audits and ensure that all necessary documentation is prepared and available.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements in cost management and reporting.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and trends in cost control and financial management.
Qualifications:
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; a Master’s degree or professional certification (CMA, CPA, etc.) is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in cost control or financial analysis, preferably in the rail or construction industry.
- Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency in financial software and tools (e.g., Excel, ERP systems).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
