Main purpose of positionCurrently we are looking for an Accountant in Cairo, Egypt to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future. As an accountant you will handle monthly internal reporting & analysis and will support audit preparations and audit fieldwork enquiries. To provide the asset manager with relevant and up to date management information and reply to ad hoc queries.

Main responsibilities 

• Management reporting: assist in preparing and maintaining excel-based financial reporting files – budgets, actual and forecast and prepare monthly budget variance analysis, assist in loan compliance responsibilities.
• Financial accounting; capture day-to-day transactions for SSO & SPVS on accounting software system, support the accounting activities and the month-end close, ensuring the appropriate application of accounting standards and company policies, and timely review and posting of journal entries and reconciliations, maintain fixed assets register, maintain supplier reconciliations, support year-end audited financial statements preparation for the projects assigned and preparation of well-supported account reconciliations to ensure integrity of account balances
• Payments: coordinate payments and payment process, ensure timely approval/authorizations of invoices, prepare weekly batch of authorized payments, load payments to banking system, inform procurement agent payment has been closed out, report exceptions on processes to senior accountant and financial controller, control cash custody and expense claims settlement
• Taxes: prepare vat return and wht return, prepare and compute annual and semi-annual income tax, ensure all taxes are paid and submitted timely

Qualifications and competencies 

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• Good understanding and use of IFRS, Egyptian standers & GAAP including experience in complex accounting issues and application of accounting principles
• Proven capabilities supporting accounting activities with multiple ERPs
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken is a must, Fluent in French is a preferred as well
• Numerical aptitude and general financial awareness
• Organized and methodical
• Solution-oriented
• High social and intercultural competence
• Dedicated and someone who takes “ownership” to tasks and responsibilities
• Self-reliant and efficient and structured
• 1-3 years relevant financial experience
