Job Purpose:
The Asset Documentation & Survey Assistant is designed to assist the asset management team with tasks related to asset surveys, asset registers, and various operational activities. This role provides valuable hands-on experience and exposure to railway assets, offering the opportunity to develop foundational knowledge of different asset types, including tracks, signals, rolling stock, stations, and other electrical and mechanical infrastructure.

Responsibilities/Duties
Asset Survey Support:
- Assist with conducting asset surveys of railway infrastructure, such as tracks, rolling stock, stations, and facilities.
- Aid in collecting data on asset conditions, usage, and performance.
- Document survey findings and update asset records with relevant details regarding condition, age, and operational status.
Asset Register Management:
- Support the maintenance and updating of the asset register to track the lifecycle and performance of railway assets.
- Help input new assets into the register and ensure accurate classification and cataloging of existing assets.
- Ensure asset records are current, including details like asset location, condition, usage, and maintenance history.
- Assist with data validation and cross-checking to ensure accuracy and completeness of asset records.
Data Collection and Reporting:
- Contribute to compiling and summarizing survey data, highlighting issues or concerns requiring attention.
Collaboration with Teams:
- Work closely with asset managers, engineers, and other departments to ensure accurate tracking and management of assets.
Administrative and Logistical Support:
- Help organize and maintain records, files, and documentation related to assets and surveys.
- Assist in preparing asset-related documents and reports
Essential Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
Qualifications:
- Educational Requirements: Senior college student or recent graduate with a bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, information technology, or a related field.
- Language Proficiency: Good command of the English language.
Technical Proficiency:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- General computer automation skills.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret and analyze large volumes of asset data.
- Attention to Detail: Accuracy and precision when handling asset data and survey results.
- Technical Knowledge: Basic understanding of railway systems, including electrical and mechanical infrastructure.
- Communication Skills: Strong communication abilities for effective collaboration and clear documentation.
