Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and inspire the editorial team, fostering a collaborative, innovative, and high-performance environment focused on literary excellence and cultural impact.
- Drive the acquisition strategy for new titles and content, actively identifying, engaging, and negotiating publishing deals with contracted authors. Manage intellectual property rights and licensing agreements to expand our diverse portfolio.
- Oversee the end-to-end content creation process, ensuring all published content adheres to high editorial standards and captivates our target audience.
- Develop and implement comprehensive editorial strategies that align with the Foundation's mission and objectives.
- Uphold and enhance high editorial standards across all published content, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
- Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., translation, design, technology) and external contributors to enhance the quality, diversity, and reach of our literary offerings.
- Monitor literary market trends, digital publishing platforms, and emerging cultural narratives to identify new opportunities for content innovation, thematic exploration, and audience engagement.
- Effectively manage the editorial schedule, budget, and workflow processes.
- Provide constructive feedback, guidance, and development opportunities to editorial staff, promoting their continuous professional growth in the publishing field.
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Literature, Publishing, Communications, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 7+ years of progressive experience in editorial and publishing roles, with a significant focus on children's literature and general literary content.
- Proven track record in content acquisition, author relations, project management, and successful publishing operations.
- Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop a high-performing editorial team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Arabic and English.
- A profound passion for literature, culture, and a deep commitment to promoting reading among children and young adults.
- Strong familiarity with digital publishing platforms, copyright law, and current trends in the global literary market.
- Experience in writing and content creation is highly valued.
