Jr Translator

JOB PURPOSE:

The Jr Translator is responsible for delivering high-quality and accurate translations within established deadlines while continuously developing their linguistic expertise. The Jr Translator is expected to readily undertake challenging projects, work seamlessly with the team, and actively incorporate feedback to continuously enhance skills and contribute to translation excellence.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

Translation & Localization

• Provide high-quality, timely, and accurate translations between English and Arabic.
• Translate technical documents with precision, particularly those related to railway infrastructure, rolling stock, signaling, communication systems, maintenance procedures, and safety regulations.
• Ensure translated materials maintain original source formatting.
• Manage multiple translation tasks simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery within demanding deadlines.

Terminology Management & Research

• Develop and maintain a comprehensive glossary of railway-specific terminology in both English and Arabic to ensure consistency across all translated content.
• Conduct thorough research on industry-specific terminology and emerging technologies to enhance translation accuracy.
• Perform research on industry-related topics to ensure the coherence and relevance of target texts.

Quality Assurance & Collaboration

• Validate translations by consulting with engineers and subject matter experts to clarify complex technical concepts and ensure fidelity to the original content.
• Organize translated material and finalize translations in accordance with established standards for order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

QUALIFICATIONS:

• University degree in Translation, Linguistics, or a related discipline is required.
• Fluency in both Arabic & English.

KNOWLEDGE:

• Proofreading skills are desirable.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Familiarity with diverse cultures and the ability to thrive in a multinational environment.
• Awareness of the public sector landscape in Cairo.

EXPERIENCE:

• 0 to 2 years of work experience in a similar role.
• A proven track record as an active learner, demonstrating swift comprehension and processing new material or information.
