BACKGROUND:
The Om Habibeh Foundation is an Egyptian non-profit organization established in 1991, operating under the supervision of the Ministry of Social Solidarity. As the implementing agency of the Aga Khan Foundation Egypt and an affiliate of the Aga Khan Development Network, OHF was founded by Om Habibeh Sultan Mohammed Shah Aga Khan with the vision of supporting sustainable development in Aswan. Since its inception, OHF has been committed to improving the quality of life for local communities through long-term initiatives in health care, education, and economic empowerment.
POSITION OBJECTIVES:
The incumbent is responsible for developing high-quality concept notes and proposals to support resource mobilization efforts. This role oversees the preparation of timely and accurate grants reporting, ensures compliance with donor regulations and requirements, and supports effective project implementation in line with approved work plans and proposals. The Manager provides strategic advice to the CEO and Senior Management Team on matters related to donor engagement, funding opportunities, and grants acquisition, strengthening the organization’s partnerships and external positioning.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Mobilising Resources (30%)
Gather donor intelligence to identify funding leads and analyse resource mobilisation trends in Egypt.
Develop and lead implementation of strategies for diversifying AKF/OHF funding sources.
Lead the development of concept notes and proposals with a diverse range of institutional, corporate, and philanthropic donors and foundations through close collaboration with management and technical teams.
Lead application of project opportunity vetting and verify theme-specific opportunities.
Lead proposal development, including consultations and workshops.
Through regular field visits and interaction with program staff, identify pressing funding needs/programmatic intervention opportunities and update resource mobilisation priorities accordingly.
Grants Compliance and Reporting (25%)
Lead and coordinate the technical review of donor reports, ensuring they meet the highest quality standards and comply with both donor and organisational requirements.
Identify operational gaps and implementation challenges that may hinder program delivery or impact and provide actionable recommendations to address these issues effectively.
Support the rollout of the AIMS system and other grant management tools under the global AKF/OHF initiative to enable centralised, real-time grant oversight and reporting through a live dashboard.
Serve as the country-level focal point for the implementation of the new Grant Management process, acting as the primary liaison with the Global Partnerships and Organisational Effectiveness Teams.
Establish and maintain internal structures that facilitate the clear and timely dissemination of grant-related information to all relevant staff, ensuring a shared understanding of donor requirements and expectations throughout the grant lifecycle.
Lead grant kick-off meetings focused on donor compliance, ensuring that reporting schedules, implementation timelines, amendment protocols, procurement procedures, and audit obligations are communicated and embedded into project planning and execution.
Relationship Management (20%)
Strengthen and expand relationships with current and prospective donors by effectively communicating programme goals, progress, and impact.
Cultivate new partnerships and manage existing ones to enhance AKF/OHF’s donor base and secure long-term funding support.
Communications (15%)
Collaborate with the team to strengthen and advance the organization’s communications function in alignment with programme and fundraising goals.
Coordinate with Global Lead for Communications to develop compelling, high-quality materials that effectively showcase OHF’s work, outcomes, and impact to donors and other stakeholders.
The requirements
Qualifications and Experience:
A minimum of 15–20 years of relevant professional experience in programme design, grants acquisition and management, and cross-functional coordination.
Fluency in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proven expertise in developing budgets and drafting high-quality project proposals for both competitive and unsolicited funding opportunities.
Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective collaborative relationships across diverse cultural, social, and political contexts.
Demonstrated ability in conflict resolution, with a pragmatic approach to problem-solving and the ability to think analytically, strategically, and proactively to guide effective decision-making.
Highly developed analytical and critical thinking skills, with the capacity to process complex information across multiple thematic areas.
Ability to perform effectively under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
Self-motivated, proactive, dependable, and innovative in approach.
Strong team orientation with the ability to foster a collaborative and supportive work environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
