Job Title: Senior Software Engineer - Test
Location: Hybrid – Cairo, at AirNXT
Department: Quality / Engineering
Reports To: QA Lead / Engineering Manager

Job Summary:
AirNXT is seeking a highly skilled Senior Test Engineer with 4+ years of experience to join our Quality Assurance team in a hybrid role based in Cairo. The ideal candidate is not only a QA expert but also capable of actively contributing to software development tasks and collaborating closely with developers. This role involves full test lifecycle ownership— from requirement analysis and test planning to automation, execution, and bug tracking—alongside hands-on support for development activities when needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Requirement Analysis:
o Collaborate with product managers and developers to understand business and technical requirements.
o Participate in backlog grooming, sprint planning, and design discussions.
- Test Planning & Case Creation:
o Create detailed, structured test cases using Xray based on user stories and technical specs.
o Manage the full testing process through JIRA/Xray, from planning to execution and closure.
- Automation & Development Support:
o Develop and maintain automated tests using Playwright with TypeScript.
o Perform mobile app testing on iOS using Appium and Java.
o Contribute to development team activities such as:
Reviewing pull requests
Pair programming on features or bug fixes
Writing or debugging non-test-related code (e.g., utilities, services)
Participating in technical design or architecture discussions
o Act as a bridge between QA and development to ensure quality is built into every stage of delivery.
- API Testing:
o Conduct automated and manual API testing using Postman and Playwright API testing.
o Validate endpoints, payloads, headers, and backend integrations.
- CI/CD & DevOps Collaboration:
o Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
o Collaborate with DevOps teams to troubleshoot test environment or build-related issues.
- Reporting & Documentation:
o Maintain test documentation, including plans, cases, and automation coverage.
o Deliver clear, actionable test reports and participate in quality gate reviews.
- Team Collaboration & Mentorship:
o Work closely with QA, Dev, and Product teams to ensure end-to-end quality.
o Provide guidance to junior QA engineers and promote collaborative improvement.
Required Skills and Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in software testing and automation.
- Strong hands-on skills with Playwright (TypeScript) and Appium (Java).
- Proficiency in API testing using Postman and Playwright.
- Solid experience managing tests and defects in JIRA/Xray.
- Ability to read, understand, and contribute to production code (JavaScript/TypeScript/Java).
- Comfortable taking on limited development tasks as needed in collaboration with engineering teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
- ISTQB or equivalent QA certification.
- Exposure to mobile testing platforms like BrowserStack or Sauce Labs.
- Ability to contribute to software development tasks and assist engineering teams beyond QA scope (e.g., code reviews, debugging, or minor feature work).
