Job Description
- Operate, monitor, and maintain sewage treatment plant systems and associated equipment.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on pumps, valves, motors, and control panels.
- Assist in the installation and commissioning of sewage treatment machinery and instrumentation.
- Monitor water quality parameters and ensure proper chemical dosing as per operational standards.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform necessary repairs or part replacements.
- Ensure the continuous and safe operation of the sewage plant with minimal downtime.
- Handle and store chemicals, tools, and spare parts in compliance with safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and equipment performance.
- Follow environmental, health, and safety regulations related to wastewater operations.
- Collaborate with engineering and utility teams to optimize plant performance and resolve issues.
- Respond promptly to emergencies, alarms, and system failures to restore operations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical certification in maintenance, electrical/mechanical engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years hands-on experience in operating and maintaining sewage treatment plants or similar systems.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems associated with sewage treatment facilities.
- Proven ability to diagnose faults and troubleshoot technical issues efficiently and promptly.
- Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment relevant to the role.
- Good understanding of safety procedures and compliance with environmental and health regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and operational instructions.
- Physical fitness to perform manual tasks and work in various environmental conditions.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
- Willingness to work in shifts and respond to emergency calls when required.
- Familiarity with local regulations and standards related to sewage treatment is an advantage.
