Role Description
The Head of Elementary Stage will oversee the daily operations of the elementary level at Royal Canadian School. This is a full-time on-site role, located in New Cairo. Responsibilities include developing and implementing curriculum plans, managing and mentoring teaching staff, ensuring compliance with educational standards, and fostering a positive, productive learning environment for students. The individual in this role will collaborate with parents, colleagues, and administrative staff to support the academic and social development of students.
The role is part of the Senior Leadership team and is responsible for providing effective leadership of the Elementary School in fulfilling the aims and objectives expressed in the RCS Guiding Statements. S/he is expected to demonstrate a commitment to the philosophy behind the PEI and Egyptian Ministry of Education curricula, the core values of RCS, and should be an adaptable educator and innovative curriculum leader.
The Head of Elementary reports to the School Principal. Key responsibilities are to:
· Create a school culture, which actively and meaningfully promotes the school’s curricula, Canadian and Egyptian culture, as well as global cultures
· Support the Principal in developing and communicating a clear strategic vision of how to develop RCS successfully
· Motivate and empower the elementary team to implement the strategic vision of the school
· Support teachers in developing their professional knowledge and skills
· Ensure the educational, social and emotional needs of students are met at all times
· Assesse the recruitment needs, and lead the appraisal and professional development of the teaching team
· Ensure the physical safety and emotional well-being of all students and staff
· Ensure there are clear and effective lines of communication both internally and with the school community
· Ensure procedures are in place for assessing student performance accurately, fairly and regularly
· Oversee and manages the elementary school budget in collaboration with the Finance Director and Principal
· Liaise with the SLT on staffing and curriculum requirements
Required Qualifications:
§ Native Speaker level in both oral and written English: Level 7 IELTS.
§ Experience in educational leadership and curriculum development
§ Strong organizational and administrative skills
§ Ability to mentor, manage, and motivate teaching staff
§ Knowledge of educational standards and compliance requirements
§ Proficiency in classroom technology and educational software
§ Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education
§ Commitment to fostering a positive and effective learning environment
§ Ability to work in groups; communicates effectively with parents, students, and other staff.
§ Must possess excellent leadership, supervisory, interpersonal, and communication skills.
§ Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, paraprofessionals, school administrative staff, parents, guardians, the community, and central office administrative staff.
§ Knowledge of applicable regulations, laws, and school policy; technology skills including research, word processing, databases, spreadsheets, electronic presentations, and integrated technology in the classroom.
§ At least five years of demonstrated experience as Elementary Teacher plus demonstrated three years of experience as Elementary Head
