Summary:
The Hitachi Rail SRS RAMS Function ensures proper implementation of the Hitachi Rail SRS RAMS Policy in accordance with company and industry specific standards and best practices, provides support to enable SRS to execute its business, provides governance and guarantees segregation of duties with the aim of ensuring the safety of the solutions developed and deployed by Hitachi Rail SRS and compliance to safety principles, industry specific standards and best practices for the development and deployment of safety-critical systems.
The Project RAMS Manager coordinates the project RAMS activities with SRS Business Segment RAMS so that the solutions (whether for testing or deployment to a customer for trial operations or revenue) are safe for their intended scope and purpose and is responsible to demonstrate that the solutions comply with the relevant processes, policies, legislation, standards and regulations.
Job Description:
- Representing RAMS in project meetings for assigned scope, is the RAMS local interface to other disciplines (Project Management, Technology, Operations, Legal etc.)
- Is responsible for on-time on-budget delivery of all RAMS work packages assigned locally
- Participates in project/product roadmap review alongside SRS Business Segment RAMS, negotiates RAMS delivery milestones with dependencies and resource constraints in mind
- Prepares RAM; Safety Plans and Safety Cases with SRS segment RAMS, according to the defined scope, to demonstrate that the solution is safe for its intended purpose
- Defines, identifies and leads the local project RAMS team to implement the RAMS strategy. Provides coaching and tutoring, if necessary
- Ensures that all delivered solutions meet both the company Safety & RAM requirements and the contractual Safety & RAM requirements
- Ensures the execution of assigned project RAMS activities through schedule, critical path management and risk/opportunity management for delivery within scope, budget and on time
- Enforces the company RAMS processes and guarantees adherence to the project RAMS plans
- Prepare statement of work (SoW) for ISA, ISwA involvement, when required
- Interfaces with ISA, ISwA, customer and approval authorities, involves RAMS experts as needed in alignment with SRS segment RAMS, defines follow-up action plans and ensures execution to close the eventual findings
- Anticipates and escalates technical issues and/or resource issues on projects
- Prepares and presents Project RAMS Management Dashboard to management on a regular basis, monitors technical safety KPIs and proactively manages the closure of the actions
- Analyzes EAC/ETC/Actuals on a regular basis. Records unplanned/out of scope activities to justify and obtain approval of EAC variations. Manages and anticipates team workload demand according to project needs and manages allocated resources with support from SRS Business Segment RAMS
- Supports capitalization activities for the project and department as well as Lessons Learned
Requirements:
- B.Sc. in Electronics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering/equivalent or Business domain with demonstrated experience in the Technical area
- Minimum 10 years of experience in a senior technical role in train control systems or automation in other industries such as aerospace, defense, automotive, medical or nuclear
- Good understanding of systems engineering, software engineering and functional safety
- Detailed knowledge of system safety lifecycle, safety design concepts and risk analysis
- Demonstrated experience with: System Safety, Validation, Safety Planning, Safety Approval and Certification, RAMT Engineering, Software Safety Assessment, Hazard Management, Safety Case
- Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate technical staff
- Strong MS Office skills and Project Management tools & software
- Good technical writing skills, excellent communication and analytical skills; excellent command of the English language and local language, both written and oral.
Preferred
- M.Sc. in Electronics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Knowledge of railway signaling systems, train control systems, fixed and moving block signaling principles, relay-based and/or computer-based interlocking design
- Extensive experience with safety standards (CENELEC, IEC, IEEE, MIL), best practices, safety methods and techniques (HAZID, HAZOP, PHA, SHA, OSHA, FTA, FMEA/FMECA, FSA) and hazard management
- Working knowledge of Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) and/or Solid-State Interlocking (SSI).
