POSITION DESCRIPTION
Under the guidance and direction of the English Language & Training Programs Manager, the Senior Academic Coordinator will be responsible for, teacher recruitment, identifying teachers’ professional development needs, monitoring of teacher performance, and review of student performance and improvement plans. S/He is responsible for reporting requirements of development interventions to the EL Programs Manager. The incumbent of the position will be responsible for the onboarding and systems training for all teachers and ensuring the quality of the English Language programs at Amideast Egypt.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teacher Management
- Responsible for the technical recruitment of English language instructors with the HR department
- Responsible for the onboarding process, orientation and systems training of new English language teachers
- Responsible for scheduling and conducting observation sessions for all English Language Observe English Language Instructors and provide feedback against a consistent performance rubric to ensure program quality
- Create and maintain monthly skill inventory report for all observed teachers to be used for class assignment
- Responsible for receiving, reviewing and providing feedback on teachers’ weekly submitted lesson plans
- Hold regular meetings with instructors prior to every public round to address issues, answer questions and provide support as needed
- Report on teacher’s competency gaps to Senior EL Program Manager for designing and implementing professional development programs
- Review teacher payment requests and supporting documents provided by EL Program Specialists in Cairo and Alexandria
- Work closely with the El & Training Programs Manager and others as designated in forecasting and developing teacher recruitment plans
- Investigate teacher complaints reported by public and corporate clients and align required actions with the EL & Training Programs Manager
- Develop the annual workforce planning for English Language Teachers
- Review, develop and ensure the implementation of effective assessment tools to measure students’ learning
- Ensure curriculum and structured lesson plans are implemented appropriately by teachers actions
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Required
- A Holder of CELTA or equivalent certification
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in English Language programs.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in classroom teaching.
- Experience with teacher training, mentoring, or coaching.
- Extensive knowledge of e-learning and online teaching practices.
- Extensive knowledge of the TESOL field and current ELT trends.
- Native/near-native proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated problem-solving, innovation, and ability to take initiative.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities.
- Excellent computer literacy in MS Office.
Preferred
- Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics/TESOL or a related major
- Spoken and written fluency in Arabic.
- Minimum TOIEC score of 950 or equivalent.
