Summary of the role:
The Technical Interior Designer will be responsible for translating design concepts into precise technical drawings and documentation for commercial, hospitality, or high-end residential projects, using Revit software.
Key responsibilities:
- Produce comprehensive interior design documentation in Revit, including floor plans, RCPs, elevations, sections, and details.
- Interpret conceptual designs into accurate construction documents.
- Develop technical details, millwork drawings, schedules, and specifications in compliance with building codes and standards.
- Coordinate with different teams such as FF&E, concept designers, MEP, and structural.
- Collaborate with BIM Coordinators/Manager to maintain Revit standards and templates.
- Ensure design integrity, buildability, and technical accuracy throughout the documentation phase.
- Support materials research and integration of sustainable and code-compliant design solutions.
- Provide guidance to sub contractors like builders, plumbers, electricians, and help them interpret design specifications.
- Liaise with clients to ensure all issues are addressed in a timely manner, and that project requirements are met.
- Communicate project status, and completion timelines.
- Research and maintain knowledge of various engineering disciplines, application methods, and materials, and stay informed on the latest trends and technology in the industry to keep our projects at the forefront of innovation.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the design director to support the successful completion of the project.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in interior design or architecture.
- 5-10 years of professional experience in technical interior design, with a focus on high-end projects.
- Demonstrable portfolio with a strong experience in delivering high-end residential, commercial, or hospitality projects.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Expert-level proficiency in Revit is required (minimum 5 years of experience using Revit on built projects).
- Familiarity with integrated project delivery (IPD) and BIM coordination workflows.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office. Knowledge of SketchUp is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of building codes, ADA requirements, and construction standards.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Creative mindset with ability to think innovatively and execute complete design concepts.
- Ability to solve complex technical problems.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with a high attention to detail.
Working conditions and Environment:
- The position is office based from New Cairo, Egypt.
- The position has no international business travel requirements.
