Summary
The Terminal Manager acts as the senior operational leader for an assigned terminal at Cairo Airport Duty Free. This role ensures seamless, profitable, and compliant retail operations across all shifts by leading a team of two Floor Managers and sales staff. As the primary morning-shift leader, the Terminal Manager is accountable for terminal-wide commercial performance, operational compliance, and passenger experience, bridging strategy from the Head of Retail to frontline execution. The role also oversees strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in coordination with Retail Store Operations, while tracking and analyzing performance through key retail KPIs. In addition, the Terminal Manager manages stock processes, provides timely feedback on movements and requirements, and prepares and communicates KPI results and operational updates to stakeholder.
What you'll be doing
1. Operational Excellence
- Oversee end-to-end retail operations for the assigned terminal, ensuring compliance with duty-free regulations, customs protocols, and airport security requirements.
- Coordinate daily activities between morning operations (personally led) and subsequent shifts led by Floor Managers, ensuring consistent service standards.
- Monitor and validate sales, stock, and operational reports for accuracy, escalating systemic issues to the Head of Retail.
- Ensure space planning, product replenishment, and visual merchandising are aligned with airport-specific constraints.
- Lead crisis response for operational disruptions (e.g., flight delays, security alerts) to minimize retail downtime.
2. Commercial Performance & Strategy
- Own the terminal P&L, delivering revenue targets linked to passenger traffic and flight schedules.
- Implement and monitor commercial calendars, promotions, and loyalty campaigns tailored to the terminal’s passenger profile.
- Drive omnichannel initiatives (click-and-collect, pre-flight orders) to increase average transaction value.
- Analyze sales trends, footfall patterns, and passenger demographics to adjust operational and commercial strategies in real time.
3. Team Leadership & Development
- Directly manage two Floor Managers, ensuring optimal staffing, shift coverage, and performance across all operational hours.
- Approve shift schedules, leave requests, and conduct performance appraisals for all terminal staff.
- Identify talent potential, create development plans, and leverage Chalhoub University resources for team growth.
- Foster resilience, adaptability, and collaboration among the team in a fast-paced, high-pressure airport environment.
4. Passenger Experience (CX)
- Serve as the senior escalation point for passenger concerns, refunds, and loyalty redemptions in the terminal.
- Personalize interactions for diverse passenger nationalities and travel purposes.
- Promote MUSE loyalty programs and exclusive duty-free offers.
- Capture passenger insights to inform travel retail analytics and continuous service improvement.
5. Stakeholder & Compliance Management
- Act as the primary liaison for the terminal with airport authorities, customs, airlines, and security agencies.
- Coordinate stock transfers and logistics needs with the merchandising and supply chain teams.
- Ensure all team members meet health, safety, and compliance training requirements.
- Maintain meticulous records for customs clearance and duty-free reporting.
6. Technology & Innovation
- Utilize passenger flow and sales analytics to optimize staffing and promotional placement.
- Champion technology-driven enhancements to the passenger journey, including self-checkout, digital upselling, and omnichannel fulfillment.
What you’ll need to succeed
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, or related field.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years in retail management, preferably in travel retail or duty-free environments.
- Proven success managing multi-shift teams in a high-security, high-footfall environment.
- Experience with P&L ownership and strategic commercial planning
Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of duty-free pricing models, customs clearance, and airport retail operations.
- Proficiency in POS, retail analytics tools, and omnichannel platforms.
