Job Purpose:
To supervise all short- and long-term manufacturing activities by implementing action plans and overseeing
resources while troubleshooting some faced issues to ensure efficient delivery of promised packaging
commitments within the defined timelines.
Responsibilities:
- Plan the packaging budget for staffing, materials (packaging components), and equipment needs.
- Ensure cGMP and GDP procedures are reviewed and that all packaging staff are trained on relevant SOPs and regulatory guidelines.
- Review and approve packaging batch records, change controls, and project plans.
- Coordinate with production, warehouse, and QA to ensure packaging priorities are met and that all necessary materials (e.g. cartons, labels, inserts) are available on time.
- Support deviation investigations and contribute to the implementation of effective CAPA recommendations within packaging operations.
- Lead or delegate the creation of documentation such as deviations, planned variances, change controls, or CAPAs related to packaging activities.
- Participate in planning and scheduling meetings to align packaging activities with production and shipping timelines.
- Establish and develop a qualified and motivated packaging team, ensuring appropriate training and performance management.
- Lead, assess, and develop direct reports in both a professional and disciplinary capacity within the packaging area.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the packaging department, targeting quality, efficiency, and waste reduction.
- Ensure all packaging activities meet time, cost, and quality standards, including final product presentation and regulatory compliance.
- Maintain an effective and efficient organizational structure, promoting teamwork, accountability, and employee engagement.
- Implement and enforce site hygiene, GMP, safety, and environmental standards, ensuring compliance in all packaging operations.
- Train new packaging employees on equipment operation, SOPs, and compliance expectations.
- Promote lean packaging practices, including visual management, waste elimination, line clearance optimization, and 5S principles.
- Manage staffing decisions through coaching, training, performance reviews, and resolution of personnel issues within the packaging team.
- Approve new SOPs, packaging batch records, and protocols, verifying technical accuracy and compliance with GMP, packaging specs, and machine operation manuals.
- Coordinate with Artwork team to revise and verify packaging Bill of Materials (BOM) and associated composition/artwork sheets.
- Create and maintain packaging recipes in SAP, ensuring accurate system data for each finished product configuration.
Qualifications, Experience, & Skills:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy, or any related field.
Minimum Experience:
Not less than 5 years of experience working in packaging or operations related experience with at least 1 year of progressive leadership experience.
